Max Harry Weil

“I had anticipated but wanted to escape the thought that your father’s course would be fatal. Words cannot express the sadness of the teacher who out-survives his beloved student. Your father was not only my student but my good and loyal friend. He was a pioneer, an active contributor, an alive and vigorous advocate for the good, and just a warm and considerate human being. We all will miss him so very much.

[…]

I would so much welcome your kind offer that we are to keep in contact, honoring his memory and all that he represented for Brazilian Intensive Care. It will be a special pleasure and it will be a special privilege to do so. Let us also consider creating a meaningful memorial for him, perhaps as part of the new Institute of Critical Care Medicine International Headquarters Building which is to open by year end. It was with pride and honor that he pointed to his training and work in the Institute some 32 years ago when it was in Los Angeles and it is still affiliated with the University of Southern California.”

“I continue to miss my friend and student.”
